Multi-wall carbon nanotubes were synthesized on the substrates coated with salts which acted as catalyst precursors in liquid hydrocarbon flames. The precursors were elaborately chosen, such as: nickel nitrate, nickel sulfate, nickel chloride. We also employed iron, nickel, copper, aluminium and their ally as substrates, in addition, nonmetal materials, such as glass and ceramic could be used as substrates.Their morphologies were characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Raman spectroscopy (RS). It was found that the carbon nanotubes were highly graphitely and had good configuration. And the most important virtue was that the process was simple and high efficiency, so this method was fit for mass production.
