In the environment engineering and municipal engineering field, experimental techniques are essential. Water treatment experiment is very vital to guide investigations of water treatment rules, improve existing processes & equipments and investigate new processes & new equipments. Engineering designs, operational guidance and instruction & training cannot lack water treatment experiments.In the aspect of instruction, water treatment experiments can train practical operation abilities of students, cause students to catch principles of water treatment experiments and improve students' understanding of environment engineering and municipal engineering major's theories. As conditions of experiments cannot meet requirements, other methods are used for getting the same effects. So the thought of water treatment experiments of application MATLAB visual simulation appears.Firstly, this thesis paper represents purposes & meaning of water treatment experiments and deficiencies of instruction field and summarizes present states of foreign and domestic techniques of water treatment experiments.Then, this thesis paper theoretically analyzes creation of three-dimensional models by using SIMULINK and VRML, introduces three-dimensional graphic links that are built by using of SIMULINK toolboxes of MATLAB and VRML language and creates three-dimensional dynamic models simulating phenomena and procedures of experiments, through which can observe micro procedures of every water treatment experiment in computers.Lastly, this thesis paper develops MATLAB GUI of coagulation and flocculation experiment, four experiments of sedimentation, filter material sieve, filter experiment and backwash experiment. All parts of experiments are integrated on an interface. The interface is very clarity because of calling of comeback function, which is very convenient for student's studying and can improve student's understanding to relevant formulas, principles and purposes of water treatment engineering.Simulating software of water treatment experiments which made by this thesis is mostly used in instructing experiment, it will reduce the limit of outlay field and other condition of experiment in instructing experiment.
