Pyrrole and its derivatives are important pentatomic heterocyclic compounds. They are widely applied in medicine, pesticides, food, household chemicals, flatting putty, testile material, printing, paper making and so on. In recent years, because of the application of pyrrole and its derivatives in sensitometric material, people pay more attention to the synthesis of pyrrole derivatives. Some people improved the synthetic methods of pyrrole ring and some give new methods. The synthetic methods of pyrrole derivatives are various, containing condensation reaction, cycloisom erisation, ring contraction, widening of the ring. Of these containing, condensation reaction was studied widely. Along with the study on synthetic methods of pyrrole derivatives, it is necessary that natural compound chemistry, material chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry and photoelectric material will be improved. At the same time, the methods of organic syntheses will be enriched. In this paper, we have summarized the application of pyrrole derivatives in some fields ,and summarized the synthetic method of pyrrole ring, reported synthesis and characterizations of polysubstituted bispyrroles. This paper contains three parts:Chapter 1: The application of pyrroles and its derivatives. This chapter simply introduces the application of pyrrole and pyrrole' derivatives in medicine, pesticide, biology, polymer material and photochromism.Chapter 2: Synthesis of pyrrole and its derivatives. This chapter simply introduces the methods for the synthesis of pyrrole and its derivatives.Chapter 3: Synthesis and characterization of polysubstituted pyrroles. This chapter introduces the characterization and synthesis of bi(3-acetyl)pyrroles and bi(3,4-diacetyl)pyrr-oles.
