UV curing coating is an important approach in the development of coating industry which has been commonly used in many fields. In this paper, a kind of abundant and environment friendly material- epoxidized soybean oil was chosen, after esterified with crylic acid, A photosensitive prepolymers- acrylated epoxidized soybean oil (AESO)was prepared, furthermore, the UV curing character of the prepolymer were discussed in detail.The basis for the materials synthesized and characterized in this paper is AESO. According to the molecule design, the prepolymer which has unsaturated groups was synthesized by the reaction of epoxy groups of epoxidized soybean oil with crylic acid, under 110℃ using triphenyl phosphine catalyst. The influences on the preparation technic were described;include reaction temperature and time, variety and content of catalyst and inhibitor. The structure of the resin was characterized by means of IR spectroscopy. The result showed that the structure of the prepolymer was just the form which was designed firstly.The UV curing performance of the prepolymer was studied. The influences on the curing rate were discussed, include the type and the content of photoinitiator, radiation distance, radiation time and the content of C = C double-bond, The influences of composition and proportioning of reactive diluents on UV curing AESO System were discussed too, and the structure of epoxidized soybean oil coatings before and after UV curing were characterized by means of IR spectroscopy.Based on these facts, in order to denote the properties of UV curing acrylated epoxidized soybean oil directly, a common UV curing prepolymer-(E-51) epoxy acrylate was prepared and UV curing performance of which was discussed. Moreover, the preparation and UV curing performance of the two different systems were contrasted, the results showed that, the appearance of UV curing acrylated epoxidized soybean oil film is crystal and smooth, hardness of curing film reached 3H, and it possess good flexility and highly adhesive force, and besides, it has more economical and environmental advantages, it will be used widely in future.
