The polyester has many outstanding properties such as high strength, high elasticity and durable to abrasion. It is good to keep shape, stiff, however, polyester is a kind of hydrophobic fiber and lacking of hydrophilic group in its large molecular structure, as well as very compact in its chain of molecule, high crystalline degree and orientation. Such characteristics cause polyester a low hydrophilic property, a low air-conductivity, easy to get static and hard to dye. With the development of people's life level, the demand to improve the hydrophilic property of the polyester becomes the most stringent topic. A new kind of polyether-ester antistatic agent PEE with a similar chemical construction as the polyester had synthesized in our group. During the treating process under the high temperature, eutectic action was occurred between the polyester fiber molecule and PEE, thus the polyether-ester copolymer was fixed on the surface of fiber, resulting in a good fastness to wash. Another part of the agent was hydrophilic segment, which could form a hydrophiliclayer on the fiber surface. Since the water absorption of fiber increased consumedly, the dissipation of the static on the fabric surface was accelerated greatly and the accumulation of static on the fiber surface was lowed, the finished fabric also attaining a dustproof and decontamination effectAlthough the self-made antistatic agent PEE had a good effect to decrease the static on polyester fabric, the polyester fabric handle was decreased. So this paper was to develop a new antistatic agent PEEJ. The anti-static finishing process of PET fabric with self-made PEEJ was one of the emphoses of the paper. During the fabric finishing process with PEEJ, the effect factors such as the antistatic agent concentration, pH value, curing temperature and curing time on the dissipation velocity of the static were studied, the optimal parameters have been obtained according to the orthogonal test design method as follows: PEEJ agent con.of 13g/L,pH value of 4, curing temperature of 150°C, curing time of 90s. The effects of antistatic and handle of the fabric finished with PEEJ was improved compared to the PEE finished one.Another aim of this paper was to discuss the influence of the antistatic finishing agent PEEJ on PET dying properties .The changes of dying properties after antistatic finishing were tested. The fabric dyed first, then finished with PEEJ, the remarkable deep effectwas shown. 1 % (o.w.f )of dyestuff could be saved when it dyed in deep, meanwhile it had a good antistatic property and fastness. It had a lower K/S value when it was treated with antistatic finishing and dyeing in a bath a step, but it had a good antistatic property and fastness. The polyester fabric had a poorer antistatic property when it was dyed after its antistatic finishing. The application of the antistatic agent PEEJ was convenient, easy and feasible. The PEEJ was better suitable for the application on the polyester fabric than PEE, especially for polyester textiles which needed a high level antistatic effect. The results obtained in the paper would have a good application future.Yuan Ji (Textile Chemistry andDyeing&Finishing Engineer) Supervised by professor Zaisheng Cai...
