The performances of printing paper relate well to printing quality. The purpose of this paper is to integrate theory with practice to analyze the relationship between of printing paper of printed matter quality. This can make press worker determinate rationally printing paper and improve the printing quality. In this paper, kinds of Chinese paper surface characteristic (including K&N ink absorptivity, gloss, paper surface efficiency, brightness and oil permeability) are measured. Printing tone and color reproduction result of these paper are experimented. The relationship between compressibility of other properties of paper which have influence on color reproduction are researched by using of linearity regression and thrice insert value. The results indicate that paper surface characteristic play the affection on color reproduction. Compressibility of paper that connects with apparent density, print smoothness, K&N value, gloss and stiffness have more important effect on color reproduction. Then, the surface efficiency of paper is analysed in this paper. Conclusion I get from this study is that the better the PSE is, the higher printing quality is. Paper's diversity is one of the main factors that result in color difference. At last of this paper, the color difference on different kinds of paper were measured. By analysing the datas, I get the conclusion which shows the relationship between paper's color difference and paper surface characteristic, and further prove that the surface efficiency of paper is relar to the printing quality. It is the key factor to evaluate printing quality. The results indicate that the density relation of properties of printing paper is nonlinear relationship.
