Benzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxaldehyde is an important intermediate in organic synthesis, especially it could be used as a raw material for preparing some polycyclic aromatic thiophenes. Reviewing various synthetic methods, we synthesized Benzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxaldehyde from benzenetiol via thiolation, cyclization, bromination, quaterisation and hydrolysis. The overall yield of 32% and the purity of 98% were achieved. After improving and investigating technical conditions of each step of reactions, a scientific synthetic route and a favourable technical conditions have been found, it provide the basis for our custom chemical manufacture. |
