The success of micro-electronics leads to a revolution in micro motion. Since the micro-manufacturing can apply to military affairs, space flight, information, astrology, industry, agriculture, etc. Lots of people and material resources have been devoted to the investigation of microforming in many countries. When the dimension of component are getting smaller and smaller, many physical phenomenon which are different from macroscopic world will occur, and the traditional theory should be modified. Therefore it is very important to develop the theory and experimental method accordingly. In this thesis, using experimental method and finite-element analysis, a basic research for microforming to find some characteristics in the area is accomplished. Firstly, the domestic and overseas developments of microforming, especially the characteristics and technology in this area, are introduced in detail. With the developments of MEMS, LIGA, different microforming technology has been applied in many fields. The technology of microforming, however, is still under theoretical investigation. The experts in Germany and America processed a series of examination research and made some progress. The research in this area in China is still a new subject and under the initial step. The theory concerning this field has also not been systematized. Then, the theory of microforming is introduced in detail. Since the size effects are very obvious with the diminution of dimension, the research of size effects is the emphases of microforming. Further more, with the diminution of dimension, it is more difficult to produce product. So more microforming method should be developed. Through the processing of thin sheet copper with numerical controlled single-point incremental forming machine,micro-products are obtained, which is a new way of microforming. In micro stretch forming experiments using thin sheet copper and aluminum, stress and strain distribution are investigated. Finally, finite element analysis of the micro stretch forming processes are carried out and the results are compared with the experimental results. |
