Production scheduling is the core module of MES that is playing the important role in the modern industry. The objective of production scheduling is to guarantee the process order and process time of work when the technology and resource are limited. Production scheduling pursues high efficiency, low manufacture period and low production cost.Planning and scheduling of hot rolling strips is the key part of steel rolling production management. Practical production process of hot rolling strip in Shanghai BaoSteel Co., Ltd is taken into account and its production process of hot rolling strip, scheduling constraints and scheduling rules are illustrated firstly. The VRPTW model that is suitable to resolve the problems of the production lot planning of the hot rolling strip is suggested. All hot rolling constrains have been considered and the objectives of the model are more slabs in each plan and higher hot charge ratio. An algorithm of partheno-genetic algorithm combined with expert system is proposed for solving this model. The simulation with real production data shows that the model and algorithms are feasible.A model of the hot rolling strip has been developed using Pro * C language and Oracle database. Testing with a large number of production data shows that the hot rolling scheduling system is feasible.
