The coordination compounds, synthesized with rare earth ions and amino acid Schiff bases, are paid much more attentions for their various structures and extensive uses. These compounds have the vital bioactivity and excellent luminescence, the applied foreground of the compounds will be extensive in the field of the bioactivity, catalysis and functional material etc.In this paper, we use the o-phenylendiamine, lactic acid and potassium permanganate as raw material, according the literature reported methods and through many a time experiments, optimize the synthetic method, gain the precursor 2-acetylbenzimidazole. The new Schiff base compound derived from this precursor and glycine is synthesized and characterized by element analysis, 1H NMR spectra, IR spectra, Laser Raman spectra and UV spectra. The nine new rare earth complexes of the amino acid Schiff base are synthesized by the new Schiff base ligand and rare earth nitrate: La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Y, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Y. These new complexes are determined by chemical analysis, element analysis, IR spectra, Laser Raman spectra and UV spectra, the properties of these complexes are forecasted by experiment facts. The thermal decomposition of the Pr(â…¢) Complex as this series rare earth complexes representation has been investigated by TG-DSC, The thermal decomposition process has been presumed by experiment facts. The series complexes have strange solubility. In this paper, we select four complex (La, Ce, Eu, Tb complex) as this series representation, titrated with standard KOH solution, gained their titration curves, and also measure their UV spectra and the Eu(â…¢) complex's fluorescence spectra which the Eu3+ ion as the structure probe under the different pH condition separately, the solubility of these complexes are forecasted by experiment facts. The three-dimension fluorescence excitation and emission spectra of the nine new rare earth complexes were determined from 200.0 nm to 900.0 nm, excitated by the xenon lamp. The experiment result showed that 2-acetylbenzimidazole form Schiff base ligand and rare earth complexes can improve enormously its photoluminescence ability, compared that the different rare earth ion influence ligand photoluminescence ability and discussed the photoluminescence mechanism and their up-conversion fluorescence phenomenon of rare earth ions in the complex.
