Luohanguo [Siraiti grosvenorii(Swigle)C.Jeffrey], a special Chinese medicinal plant, is used in the treatment of colds, sore throats, cough, and so on. And it is widely used in manufacturing medicine, beverage and flavoring agent. Almost all the research were focused on the Luohanguo fruits in the past, while the Luohanguo seed and its residue (which sweet glycosides have being extracted from Luohanguo fruit) have being researched very few. This essay is to introduce my research on Luohanguo seed oil and its residue from the flowing four parts: 1. We extracted the oil from the grinded Luohanguo seeds by Soxhlet's extractor apparatus and did experiments to measure its physical and chemical properties, including the density, the content of water the acid value, the peroxide value, the saponification value and the iodine value. At last we analyzed the oil by IR spectrum. The result shows that the percentage content of the oil in seeds from Siraitia grosvenori( Swingle)C. Jeffery is 51.5%, furthermore the lower acid value suggests little dissociated acid in the seed oil; higher iodine value suggests unsaturated fat acid is higher; When heated, the color of oil becomes into bright yellow and thick, but no deposit separated out, which suggests that the seed contains little phosphor fat. 2. Squalene was qualified by TLC and HPLC in Luohanguo seed oil, and it was separated through silica gel chromatography and HPLC purification. the percentages of squalene in seed oil and its residue are 4.4% and 0.34% respectively. So, we identify that squalene exists in Luohanguo seed oil for the first time, furthermore, its content is higher(in olive and palm oil only about 1.16%). 3. The analysis and preparation condition of squalene by HPLC were established in this thesis. Squalene was analyzed mainly by GC in the past, while the GC method can't be used to prepare. Through experiments, the following HPLC conditions are the best: column, Shodex Asahipak C18 column; mobile phase, V(acetonitrile): V(methanol)=60:40; flow rate, 2.0mL/min; detection wavelength, 210nm; temperature: ambient. 4. In addition that, Palm acid, seventeen carbonic acid, kaempferol-3,7-O-α-L-dirhamnopyranoside and terpenes ( its structure has not been identified) are separated by saponification, silica gel chromatography and HPLC from Luohanguo residue in this paper.
