Chitosan, with wide application, was a kind of natural polymer materials prepared from chitin. The studying emphases was concentrated on chemical decorating of chitosan, after decorating, the derivatives with different configuration and performance were prepared, and which had been focus to all researchers for its enormous potential both in the fields of research and application.In present paper, chitosan and its Schiff base type derivative were prepared, and the preparation conditions and modification method were studied, the products were characterized by FT-IR and other machines. The detailed contents were shown as:1, Chitosan was prepared from different crab crust by the function of microwave, and the effect of experiment conditions on acetyl separating rate and viscosity of aqueous solution were studied. These conditions included original material source, reagent ratio, base solutions, power of the microwave, reaction time and so on.2, Chitosan obtained from above was modified by Schiff base type macrocycles, which was prepared by the reaction of the reagents of salicylaldehyde, glacial acetic acid, hydrobromic acid, chloroepoxy propane and the others. The product of Schiff base type macrocycles was characterized by FT-IR.3, The particular chitosan derivative was employed for enrichment and separation of heavy metal ions, such as Pb2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Cu2+. The results suggested that the particular chitosan derivative was a kind of good sorbet for heavy metal ions.
