Experimental Research On Materials Components And Process Of Metal Resin Mold

There are great changes in the manufacturing market environment in recent 20 years. In order to hold the forethought of market, it is important to put the commodities into the market fleetly.Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (RP&M) technology comes forth and develops with the changes in the background. And Rapid Tooling (RT) press home rapid prototyping and manufacturing technology's advantage. We can carry out rapid manufacturing of the end part or product by rapid tooling. Rapid tooling serves as the strong support to the modern producing mode and the market's demands. There is wide forethought for rapid tooling to apply to develop the new product, produce small batch product, reduce cost, improve the productivity and realize custom-made product for a small batch.Direct mold such as SLS 3D-P SDM DMIS and indirect mold such as silicon mold, quick cast technology, reject forming, keltool technology, cauld metal spray forming are proposed based on the rapid prototyping and manufacturing and rapid tooling technology in this paper.Resins used in metal resin mold, metal power and all kinds of additive are introduced in detail. The classification of resin, merits and characteristics of the epoxy resin, curing agent and thinner that used in resin is given in system.Materials components and experiments with them were emphasized in this article. Materials components such as Epoxy resin E44, E51, F44, F51 and polyester resin 199 and their corresponding addictives for producing mental resin mold are investigated. And from a great deal experiments, the type and the right dosage of thinners, modifiers, and bulk additives are got. Some proper materials components are proposed through comparing the rigidity and other mechanical performance of the samples that were made in order to compare every metal resincomponents .Based on the E44 components a metal resin mould was made.Completely different quality mold will be got due to the different process. The fabricating process of a metal resin mold based on the plastic and the rapid vacuum-casting technology of a resin product using the metal resin mold are investigated. Then the detailed measures and relative techniques for improving the quality and reducing difficulties in separating the metal resin mold and the plastic prototype are suggested. The main process and techniques parameters are given in the paper. The method to calculate the resin, the order to mix every materials, the time to mix the resin and thinner, curing agent, dealing with the surface of the prototype, the choice of mold face, the skill to fill the holes of the prototype with the picking material and the skill to make cavity based on core are investigated in detail. And other factors that affect the casting product, the time of mix round, the keeping temperature and so on are introduced in this paper,Finally, the choice of curing agent and the method to use it are studied experimentally. In the experimental study a problem is found that the separating of the mould and the prototype, the separating of the mould and the product is very difficulty. This is a problem about curing agent and it is one of difficulties in making the metal resin mold and the problem affect the quality of the mould seriously. Through a lot of experiments on the curing agent, the success process and quality control measures in using curing agent are proposed, it has improved the status in quo of the metal resin mould and has important reference value to the user who makes the metal resin mould with the resin that made in China.
