Since Sustainable Development was put forward by Environment and Development of World committee in 1987, the concept was accepted by more and more people. How to analyze and estimate the situation of Sustainable Development of one region in quantitative measurement is still an advancing edge and focus in Sustainable Development research domain.Ecological Footprint is a fresh method to judge the state of Sustainable Development of an area, a nations or the world, by comparing the need of people's consumption with the supply of nature. It show expend of human beings and the supply of nature by ecological space. The ways of Ecological Footprint transfer resources and energy which can accommodate a number of people live into the sum of different kinds of land. It's an intuitionistic and comprehensive plan, which is influenced by the level of people's consumption, the preference of expend, education level and utilization ratio of energy and resources. The city of Dujiangyan has experienced about 2200 of years. It's very important to the plain of Chengdu and even has very deep influence to the Sichuan basin. Dujiangyan play a very important role to economic circle and ecological safety of Chengdu in Sustainable Development. Therefore, take Dujiangyan as an example has some significance. With the rising of people and the development of industrialization and urbanization, the Ecological Environment becomes worse day and day. To exploit the resources in order, it's necessary to master the state of this area. We can evaluate the potential of Dujiangyan's development and its dependence on other area. This paper estimate Dujiangyan's Sustainable Development with theory of Ecological Footprint in time and space. The result shows that:1. The city of Dujiangyan just experience fast urbanization. With the improving of people's living standard and economic development, more and more resources are expended, lead Ecological Footprint expanding quickly: It has increased 9.356% in 8 years; contrast to 6.661% decreased to ecological of capacity. As a result, the value of ecological deficit for everyone becomes more and more great. To 2003, the figure is 1.4966hm2/cap, and the gross is 89811 Ohm2, as big as 7 times to Dujiangyan's region. That is, the demands to ecological service of Dujiangyan beyond the capacity of itself greatly.2. Form the change of Ecological Footprint on GDP, the expenditure of Dujiangyan's per ten thousand GDP has declined yearly. From 1996 to 2003, it has decreased from 3.6229 to 1.5443. So, we can draw a conclusion that the efficiency of using resources has enhanced yearly in Dujiangyan.3. Cultivate land and fossil energy takes a great fraction in Ecological Footprint. They are most important components of Ecological Footprint. In 2003, their contribution is 78.14% and 16.65% privately.4. Deficit regions are almost distributed in area, in which the degree of denseness, urbanization and industry is greater. Ecological Footprint has nearly interior relationship with the population, GDP and urbanization. The distribution of Ecological Footprint is not balance in space for each country. This can be reflected by the exploiting efficiency of resources, the structure of industry and the mode of consumption.
