Abstract Polyoxometalate-based inorganic-organic hybrid materials with active physical properties, such as materials with electrical, magnetic, and optical properties, has become a focus of a great deal of interest. Three polyoxometalate-based inorganic-organic hybrids have been synthesized and characterized by IR spectra, TG analyses and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The single crystal of {La(DMSO)6(H2O)(PW12O40)}·CH3CN has been synthesized. In the compound, La3+ cations are eight-coordinated with oxygen atoms from six DMSO molecules, one H2O molecule and one polyanion. The crystal structure indicates that the compound forms a one-dimensional zigzag chain built from the alternating polyanions and cationic units through W-Od-La-Od-W links. The single crystal of {Ce(DMSO)8}·{PMo12O40} has been synthesized. In the compound, Ce3+ cations are eight-coordinated with oxygen atoms from eight DMSO molecules. The crystal structure indicates there is electrostatic force in the compound . The single crystal of {[PMo12O40][Ce(DMF)7]2}·{PMo12O40} has been synthesized. In the compound, Ce3+ cations are eight-coordinated with oxygen atoms from seven DMF molecules and one polyanion. The crystal structure indicates that the compound forms the alternating polyanions and cationic units through Ce-Od-Mo links.
