HuangLong, provided with such international laurels as "World Natural Heritage, World Biosphere Reserve and Green Globe 21", is one of the most famous tour areas in China. However, in recent years, the discharge in some parts of HuangLong has obviously decreased, the water level of lake drops , even some lakes dry up, the rimstone dam collapses, the waterfall shrinks, the travertine turns to be dark and rot, which have seriously affected the sight's visual and admiring value. In view of this situation and considering that the travertine survives and perishs together with the karstic water, the characteristics of hydro-environment (water cycling system and hydrology geochemistry) are discussed in detail and the evolution of travertine is analyzed.About water cycling system, water body style and hydro-unit at HuangLong area are divided. On this basis and combining with site inspection, data collection and report analysis, water cycling characteristics and hydrology dynamic change characteristics are studied.About hydrology geochemistry characteristics, the chemical characteristics of upper fountains are analyzed especially. Combining with the multi-year analyzing data of water body, the dynamic change characteristics of water quality are studied. And calcium ion one-dimensional space model is tried to be set up.The results show that the travertine landscapes at HuangLong area stay at the stage between dynamic equilibrium and disappearance & recombination, and decay trend is more serious. Therefore, it is very urgent to take some protection and rehabilitation measures to delay the disappearing process of the travertine at HuangLong area.
