As a major polluter, sulfur dioxide has been paid more and more attention for its toxic effect. Specially, there is heavy sulfur dioxide polluting problem in ShanXi, which urgency us to investigate its toxic effect. For about a decade, our lab has been in engage in the research of toxicology effect of sulfur dioxide, and we found that it can affect not only the issue of long but also the whole body. In this research, we investigate the effect of sulfur dioxide on the isolated aortic rings of rats, and its potential harm on the cardio-vascular system1 .The vasodilatory effect of sulfur dioxide- derivatives on the isolated aortic rings of ratsTo investigate the direct effects and the possible mechanisms of sulfur dioxide(SO2 )-derivatives (the mixture of sodium bisulfite and sodium sulfite) on vascular tension. The effects of SO2 -derivatives on the isometric force of isolated rat aortic rings were examined. Then the change in vascular tension of rat aortic rings pretreated respectively with N-L-nitro-arginine,methylene blue, indomethacin and propranolol were studied. It was found that (1) The SO2 derivatives could dose-dependently relax the isolated aorta precontracted with Noradrenaline (NE) or potassium chloride (KCl). (2)The vasodiatory effect on the aortic rings precontracted with NE was more potent than that precontracted with KCl. (3)This effect was attenuated when the aortic rings were preincubated with indomethacin. (4)This effect was not affected by indomethacin, methylene blue and propranolol. we primarily demonstrated that the SO2 derivatives could dilate vas, which was related to prostacyclin (PGI2) but had nothing to do with nitric oxide (NO).2.The effects of SO2 derivatives on the contractions of isolated thoracic aorta rings of ratsIsolated rat aortic rings were used to perfuse in chambers containing chemicals tested in Kerbs buffer and preincubated with SO2 derivatives. Then norepinephrine, potassium chloride or Ca2+ were added to contract the aortic... |
