The application of samarium reagent in organic synthesis is one of the actively investigative fields in organic synthetic methodology recently. This reagent has high reactivity and stereoselectivity. And a lot of reactions can put up in the moderate reactive condition. As carbene has its particular reactive capability and enormous applied value, it is one of focus hotspots by researchers all along and it is an important task in organic synthesis. The aim of this thesis researches and develops a novel approach of carbene promoted by samarium and its application in organic synthesis. The main investigations of this thesis are for (1) studying the production of bichloride carbene promoted by Sm/I2 reagent from a precursor of chloroform and progressing the reaction of 7,7-dichlobicyclo [4.1.0] heptane by a matching reagent of cyclohexen, (2) studying the production of carbene promoted by Sm/I2 reagent from a precursor of CH2I2 and producing the compound with structural units of cyclopropane by using hydroxyl-directed allylic alcohols. The study of this thesis enlarges the application of rare earths metal- samarium in organic synthesis that has quite important meaning for our country having abundant rare earths resources. It promotes to explore the new use of rare earths metals in organic synthesis. There will be a great break in the theory and application of the production of carbene.
