The mechanism and experimental research on oil atomization in electrostatic oiler made by Wuhan University of Science and Technology has been dealt with. The research involves charging mechanism, charging and atomization characteristics of fuel, etc. Jet length and atomizing angle are the two important description parameters of electrostatic atomization. Digital camera is used to have research work on electrostatic oiler test-bed. We take pictures of oil spray images under different electric voltage. Some useful information has been gained by image processing and how electric voltage affects the property of electrostatic oiler has been analyzed. The rule of the Jet length and the atomization angle under variable voltage has been given.Based on particle system, using Visual C++ and OpenGL library with object-oriented method, the shape of oil atomization under variable voltage is simulated. Compared with the picture in the experiment, it reflects the atomizing process of oil in oiler elementally. It accords with the phenomena in experiment.
