Taking consideration into difference of corrosion among various atmospheric environments in China, for appropriate selection of materials and anticorrosion measurements in national economic construction, it is significant to comprehensively carry out research of atmospheric corrosion behaviors and correctly classify atmospheric corrosivity by scientific and convenient methods.Based on that time-consuming and tedious atmospheric exposure test of standard materials with synchronizing environmental monitoring is considered as a unique method to research and evaluate atmospheric corrosivity, ACM electrochemical method combined with gravimetric method is adapted to develop research of atmospheric corrosion behaviors of A3 steel and to evaluate atmospheric corrosivity in this paper.Laboratory research of influence of insulator thickness on ACM cells shows that ACM current exponentially decays under invisible electrolyte layer and increases under visible electrolyte layer with increase of insulator thickness. Too thin insulator will lead to difficulty of cell manufacture and frequent short-circuit of ACM cell under heavy polluted environment. Atmospheric corrosion under thin electrolyte layer by 0. Smm-thickness-insulator ACM cell indicates that ACM technology can pretty reflect the effects of important climatic parameters, which obtains the feasibility of ACM to research atmospheric corrosion. In laboratory accelerated tests and outdoor atmospheric exposure, corrosion behaviors of A3 steel are studied. Both weight loss of A3 steel specimens and integration of ACM current increase in linear form with time...
