In recent years, many traffic accidents were caused by overheated tires. Tire designers are trying to find ways to reduce the heat, one of which is the research of temperature field of tires. Our heat transfer team has made some achievements in using finite element method to analysis the temperature field of tires, this paper is to perfect the software of finite element analysis of tire temperature considering the effect of the height of the apex end and other factors.A modified cross-section diagram of tire is obtained: by making the apex end and the ply end of tire higher, the model is more alike with a real one. Considering boundary conditions, rim has became part of the finite element analysis model of tire. For most radial ply tires of saloon cars in China, each tire has single rigidity of apex, the height ratio of apex and sidewall below horizontal axes is 3/4, and the ply end is higher than the apex end ranging from 10 to 20 mm. Complying with this principle, and according to some country standards about tire and rim, and etc, the perfect geometric model of tire come true, where the symmetrical and dissymmetrical rims have been dealt with properly in the tight coordination of tire and rim.On the basis of new cross-section diagram of tire, automatic generation of finite element meshes has been realized, and at the same time, automatic generation of new elements message has come into being. In this paper, the method of Adopting Same Number of Segments in One Region has been expounded in detail, which is one method of generating finite element meshes, and which has been also used to generate the new good meshes on the new cross-section of tire. The method may be considered as a routine way. In addition, by rearranging the elements on the cross-section of tire, and according to some principle, the new elements message has been generated.The calculation program about temperature field of tire has also been modified.
