Electro luminescent (EL) materials are the substances that give out lights when excitedby electric field. We call them electro luminescent materials because they are on the processtranslating the electric energy into optical energy. Organic electro luminescent materials havemany merits, for example, lower drive voltage which suits the voltage of integrate circuit, shorter response time, high luminescence brightness and efficiency, easy to modulate color torealize the whole color display and so on. At the same time, organic materials havecharacteristics of lightweight, quite flexible, easy to process. These are all traditionalinorganic materials and liquid crystal display that can't compare to. Because of these, organicelectro luminescent materials have the application to the super thin and big area flat display, manufacture of folding " electronics newspaper" and high-efficiency outdoors and indoorsilluminating apparatus and have become a new research hotspot of electro luminescent realmand attached importance by chemistry, optics, materials and the related science realmextensively. The development status, device structure, materials of OLED and the degradationmechanism are briefly introduced in this paper. On the base of analyses of research workrelated to, we have made it sure to target with rare earth complex. Through quantities ofexperiments and deep speculations, we have designed and synthesized novel rare earth complexas electroluminescent material. The main contents of research as follow: 1. We have selected 4-Diphenylamino-benzoicacid as the first ligand, TPPO or phen asthe second ligand and synthesized a series of coordination compounds containing Tb. 2. We have designed and synthesized novel star shaped metal coordination compounds.
