The purpose of this paper is to discuss and introduce the applications of the desulpherization technologies in large scale of utility boilers that is suitable to the actual situations in China, matured in technology, basically localized, high in financial, environmental.Comparative analyses are made to the technical progress, technical characteristics and practical applications of wet limestone/gypsum flue gas desulfurization (FGD) and dry circulating fluidized bed flue gas desulfurization (CFB/RCFB). Systematic analysis is made to the industrialization application of wet limestone/gypsum flue gas desulfurization in terms of the major factors affecting the desulfurization efficiency.Technical and financial comparisons are made with the dry circulating fluid bed flue gas desulfurization technology, so as to provide theoretical and argument basis for decision-making in desulfuration system performance optimization, system cost reduction and further industrial application.With references to several typical flue gas desulfurization projects in Shandong, analysis, appraisal and summary are made to the technologic theory foundation, key influencing factors, optimization design of major process flow and equipment, technical know-how, key equipment and parts, technical design and equipment localization, actual operation technical data, commercial operation economical efficiency, etc. The preliminary conclusion is arrived through comparisons and integrated study of the technical maturity, technical performance, environmental characteristics and economical efficiency. Wet method flue gas desulfurization technology is technically matured with numerous commercial application achievements, applicable to large, medium and small sized units, as well as those of 300,000 or higher. However, dry circulating fluidized bed (CFB/RCFB) flue gas desulfurization technology is advantageous in construction cost and operation cost for medium and small sized units. For medium sizes (200,000-300,000) units, there are disputes on the applicaiton of CFB/RCFB flue gas desulfurization technology, because of less operation achievements both at home and abroad and the differences in technical analysis angles.
