| A new N-heterocyclic initiator (1- α-bromoisobutylimidazole,BrBI) has been designed and synthesized in this article; the kinetics of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of n-butyl methacrylate (n-BMA) at different temperatures is studied in this paper. Polymerizations of n-BMA have been carried out under the conditions using Cu(I)Br/2,2'-bipyridine(bpy) catalyst with 1- α -bromoisobutylimidazole used as the initiator and PA used as solvent. At low temperature(below 80℃), Living radical polymerizations of n-BMA have been achieved. The GPC results show that the molecular weights of the polymers are closed to the designed values and the molecular weight distribution (MWD) was narrow throughout the polymerization(1.1 |
