Study On Paper And Its Use In Furniture

With people paying more and more attention to the performance of materialon environment, furniture designer should care not only its functionality but also its weight, price, and safety etc. The quality of paper is becoming better than before and new paper products come forth very quickly. The paper was used to almost every field of our daily life. In the field of furniture, it has been accepted by people that the paper can be used as facing and filler material. However, the using of paper as main material is still in a primary stage in our country. Cardboard furniture has appeared in the markets of foreign countries, it is welcomed by many people. This study summarized the performance of paper and cardboard at the beginning, and its mature use in traditional products, packing, laying out model and building was expatiated. The properties of paper furniture, such as strength, color and shape ,were compared with furniture made up from other materials. Furthermore, the use of paper in furniture was discussed and beauty , property on environment protection, safety of paper was analyzed , personal supposes and opinions were given by the author in this study. Paper has its unique virtues compared with other materials, especially for short-term renters and children. This study analysis the use of paper in furniture will offer some references for paper furniture's design, and dedicate to modern furniture material choose.
