Electrostatic flocking, as a rising industry, because of its low investment obstacle, varieties of products, increasing usage and quickly returning, is growing up rapidly in recent years. At the same time, many problems have turned up and new products development has been the key for flock factories to succeed in the competitions. At present, there are two major developing trends of electrostatic flocking products, i.e., those used in garments and home textile goods. However, few domestic studies have paid attention to the questions if electrostatic flocking products are fit for garments and home textile goods and what are the characteristics of the flocking fabrics used in garments and home textile goods. Also in China, the variety of products and processing technique are not as good as other foreign countries. Thus at present, to widen flocking products' application fields and to develop functional and high tech flocking products have been one of the most important methods to promote the electrostatic flocking industry in China.After referring to plenty of literatures, researching the flock markets and factories and having several informal discussions with the supervisors of flock factories, this thesis pays attention to the questions above, analyzes the status in quo, the trends and essential of flock products development. Via plenty of samples and experiments, the characteristics of flock products used in garments and home textile goods have been studied. By means of correlation and principal component analysis methods, the factors that affect strength property have been deeply discussed. In addition, in view of the actual needs, the precept and advices of developing water and oil repellant flocking products and flocking carpet products under the present situation, have been designed and put forward, and also probing research has been done.After studying, several conclusions have been made as follows:(1) Electrostatic flocking products are characterized by unique appearance, variety of styles, wide usage, quick design and color transformation, high efficiency and low costs.(2) New products development has been one of the major existing problems of flock products. In the following years, there will be two major developing trends of electrostatic flocking products, i.e., those used in garments and home textile goods.(3) At present, the appearance and the appearance after repeated wash of the flock fabrics used in garments is better than ordinary cotton pile fabrics, and it is also characterized by its excellent process property. The flock fabrics used in home textile goods are characterized by its excellent abrasion and strength properties, which meet the actual requirements well.(4) The leading factors which affect the strength properties of upholstery flocking fabrics with cotton mesh base cloth and nylon flock, are the density of the base cloth and the usage of the binding agent. The less important factors are the breaking elongation ratio and thickness of the flocking fabric. Break and tear strength properties present minus correlation. These two factors should be considered synthetically in order to promote the strength property of flocking products.(5) Via spraying method to finish flocking fabrics, good water repellence effect can be obtained, but other properties will be affected to some extent. Thus, it is recommended that dipping and padding methods should be used in bulk production.(6) The method that PVC is compounded after flock is planted on the glass fiber mesh felt and then cut the composite, is recommended to be used to develop electrostatic flocking carpets.This thesis strives to be of some value of reference to researchers of electrostatic flocking industry to study the industry and to managers of electrostatic flocking enterprises to make business strategy.
