Based on the detailed and abroad investigation of the inland and overseas literatures of three-dimensional lake flow and mass transportation computation in recent years, the numerical simulation of 3D wind-drived flow and mass transportation in taihu lake is built. First, the turbulence control equations in σ coordinate is constructed from equations in Cartesian coordinate, and the boundary conditions and initial conditions are analyzed. Then the discretization grid and difference schemes are presented. The mode-splitting solution technique is applied in this model, and eddy viscosity coefficients are analyzed. Based on the 3D numerical model the computations of wind induced flow in circular basin and a closed rectangular basin are taken, the computed results are in agreement with analytical solution and the results of literatures to prove this model precision. Finally, based on the model, different wind-drived flow and mass transportation in taihu lake are taken. Taihu water quality in horizontal and vertical variety simultaneity is found, vertical variety of contamination index to be considered in the lake fluid matter monitors and evaluation is put forward. The rules of transportation and diffusion of contamination in taihu lake are reflected perfectly, the computed results are satisfied. The study of this paper must be useful to guide the water environment management model of taihu lake in the future.
