For a long time, Based on the theory of Deutsch,most precipitator vendor adhere to the industry standard calling uniform flow throughout the electrostatic precipitator (ESP), However the foreign experts have oppugned at present, they believe that the collection efficiency has been improving to utilize a Skewed Gas Flow technology(SGFT) in actual ESP ,which consists of a top heavy skew at the outlet of the precipitator, coupled with a bottom heavy skew at the inlet of the precipitator. But at home the research on SGFT is little. Therefore the paper analyze the current environment protection situation, taking ESP with 450m~2 electrical field area in sinter machine No. 2 of Bao steel for example, in model experimental research SGFT is adopted.Firstly, in the paper the size distribution of 120 dust particle samples are studied with the aid of laser particles sizing analyzer and the rule of dust particle distribution have been educed, Secondly, based on approximate theory, similar principle and previous theory, a set of airflow distribution technology research model has been built, which has much advantages suchas easy to alter, complete function, convenient and rapid data disposal and good applicability. Thirdly based on the previous theory, the objective of the deviation coefficient of SGF velocity profile is established. Finally, during the model experimental research, in order to educe the best scheme of SGFT, the measurements of guild flow screen and fold flow screen have been carry into effect. After a great number of experimental research have been carried out, the optimal scheme is made certain and implemented into the actual ESP. the application of SGFT to ESP has been proved successful, and total emissions reduced by 28.3%.To sum up, the research of SGFT is a breach to the uniform distribution. In order to reduce the air pollution created by the industrial dust and waste, Study on SGFT has an important practical significance for the development and improving electrostatic precipitator .
