Virtual injection molding technology has become an important development trend for the injection molding technology. The combination of virtual reality technology and the traditional CAE system is studied in the paper. The paper has designed the integrated structure of CAE-Based virtual injection molding system. Based on the powerful calculation ability of the traditional CAE software, the system is intelligentized to optimize some process parameters automatically and obtain reasonable process evaluations and improvement suggestions. The system also can realize the visualization of injection molding process and improve CAE system towards the development direction of virtual reality.The paper has discussed the application of the artificial intelligence technology in virtual injection molding system. The application of the Artificial Neural Network technology in optimization for injection molding process parameters is studied. The establishment of target function for optimization, the definition for input and output parameters of Artificial Neural Network model, and the organization of training samples are discussed in detail. On the other hand CAE analysis can produce large number of information, and Data-Mining method is used to translate these simulation results to knowledge-based form, which can be understood by expert system. And then, expert system technique is applied to provide scheme appraisement and improvement suggestion.The application of the emulating technology in virtual injection molding system is studied. The model of mold assembly and the description of mold movement are constructed and the module of movement imitating is developed. This module has been applied in injection molding CAE system developed by State Key Lab of Mold & Die Technology of HUST and gives the interference inspection information of all parts during the movement and confirms the assembly capability of mold.Finally, the realization of visualization in injection molding process based on the hardware of OCTANE workstation is also introduced and some corresponding developments have been completed.
