| OMMT (organic montmorillonite) was prepared by ion exchanging between Na- montmorillonite and cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). polyacrylate-system emulsion and styrene-acrylic emulsion containing OMMT were synthesized using seed emulsion polymerization, They were researched ,and were found a lot of special properties, compared with general emulsion, at the same time, they were found that OMMT had intercalated into polyacrylate-system materials.The peel strength of polyacrylate-system emulsion containing OMMT was increased about 60-80%, compared with general emulsion, it was tested using a Chinese electronic universal testing machine WD-5 (180 degree peeling angle). The drying speed of polyacrylate-system emulsion containing OMMT was higher about 40% than general emulsion in 1 hour, and it was tested using an electron balance. The particle size of that was bigger around 50%, and it's carried out using a Japanese TEM-100CX. The surface tension was measured using German DO NOUY surface tension equipment, and the values of it were decreased. The viscosity tests were carried out using Chinese NXS-11 rotational viscometer, and they were found that apparent viscosity (ηa), consistency factor(K), zero shear viscosity(η0), Viscous flow activation energy (Ea) of polyacrylate-system emulsion containing OMMT were increased , compared with general emulsion, but the emulsion flow index (n) was decreased. The apparent viscosities of polyacrylate-system emulsion containing OMMT and general emulsion had little change 3 months later, so shelf lives of both were good. Because it had so many advantages, it could substitute solvent adhesives, and was applied broadly. Furthermore, it had no pollution.The emulsion with 1% functional monomer was also researched, it could decrease the amount of emulsifier, so resistance to water was stronger than general emulsion after drying. At last, styrene-acrylic emulsion was researched, they were found that rheologic behavior of styrene-acrylic emulsion containing OMMT was improved, and resistance to water of styrene-acrylic emulsion containing 1% functional monomer was improved. AMP-95 and N,N-dimethylaminoethanol were used as thickener, They could substitute ammonia water. Because their volatilization was very difficult, they had no pollution, and they could be broadly applied in the future. |
