Flow network model and solution is an important subject in the field of chemical process simulation and electrical power simulation. The structure of flow network is complicated and its flow and its pressure is highly non-liner. And the network characteristic is sensitive to the Topology structure. They lead to the difficulty of auto-modeling and calculating for flow and pressure.In this paper the topology structure for flow network is described as adjacency matrix. And the strategy to identify flow network is studied in four sorts ─ series, parallel, branch and mixing, then calculate the flow and pressure by two-tier approach. Using the above research, this paper puts forward the algorithm for auto-modeling and calculating for flow and pressure of chemical pipelines. A set of application software has been developed successfully. After adjacency matrix of flow network is inputted, the software can be employed to generate the model of flow network automatically and quickly. The software is tested well in many process simulations such as the realtime dynamic process simulation of a TDI plant, and shows it is reliable and practical.
