| It is well known that polyacrylate or ploymethacrylate is a kind of damping materials. Generally, the temperature range of this kind damping materials is from -30#to 150#.In order to improve its damping performance of this material at low temperature(-80~0#), the siloxane was used to modify polyacrylate,In this paper, the copolymer of polyacrylate/polysiloxane for damping material was synthesized through emulsion polymerization. There were two siloxane monomers, which were polydimethylsiloxane containing vinyl in the end (PVMS) and acyclosiloxane, selected to modify polyacrylate. The copolymer latexes of polyacrylate/PVMS were stabile, and the copolymer has good vibration damping performance. The widest glass transition region of the copolymer spans 100#, and the highest value of tan 8 reached 2.01. The glass transition of the samples was examined by DMA.When the copolymer modified with acyclosiloxane was synthesized, Methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (MATS) or hydroxylethyl methylacrylate (HEMA) were the bridge of polyacrylate and polysiloxane. It was found that the product was really the copolymer of polyacrylate and polysiloxane by Soxhlet extraction and H-NMR. Thiscopolymer also has good vibration damping performance. The widest temperature range of the copolymer spans above 90, and the highest value of tan 8 reached 2.06.It was also discovered that moderate crosslinking and fillers were able to improve the vibration damping performance. |
