The preparation and capability of nanocomposites were very important parts of nanocomposite research. Because of the especial configuration and excellent properties, the Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been a very important investigation field. In this paper, organic-inorganic nanocomposites were synthesized by the sol-gel process.Using tetrabutyl titanate(TBT) and methyl methacrylate (MMA)(or 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA)) as materials, methacryloxylpropyl trimethoxy siliane (MPTMS) as coupling agent, HCl as catalyst, Poly (methyl methacrylate)-titania(PMMA-TiO2) nanocomposites and Poly (methyl methacrylate)-titania(PMMA-TiO2) nanocomposites were synthesized by sol-gel process. In the same time, Process parameters, which could affect the characters of the products, such as the concentration of HCl, the quantity of water, coupling agent, reaction time and advance hydrolyzed times were discussed. The experimental results showed that when the concentration of HCl was 0.3±0.02mol/L, n(TBT)/n(H2O)≥5/1,n(MPTMS)/n(TBT)≥1, advance hydrolyzed time was 12h and reaction time was 6h, the better products can be obtained.The chemical structure of PMMA-TiO2 and PHEMA-TiO2 was characterized by IR, TEM and TG/DTA. The results showed that the organic-inorganic nanocomposites were more heat-resistant than organic materials, and the TiO2 distributed symmetrically in the polymer. We have successed to prepare the PMMA-TiO2 and PHEMA-TiO2 organic-inorganic nanocomposites. The nanocomposites would be used in more field than single polymer.
