It is found that tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) has the function as bleaching activators, so nowadays study on TAED is hot in science field. This paper mainly dealt with the synthesis and application of TAED. The study laid theoretical foundation and reference for large-scale extraction and purification of TAED.Data illustrated that the optimum reaction conditions were as follow: ethylenediamine: acetic acid: acetic anhydride =l:2.5:3.5(molar ratio). Data illustrated that the optimum reaction conditions of DAED were as follow: The microwave power and time are 500w, 7min. the catalyst is zinc chloride. The yield reached 95%. Data illustrated that the optimum reaction conditions of TAED were as follow: The microwave power and time are 530w, 35min. the catalyst is activated clay. The yield reached 74%.At last, the crystal of TAED was analyzed by UV spectrum and IR spectrum.In the next experiments, the application of TAED in bleaching of textiles and paper pulp were studied. The bleaching behaviors of SPC/TAED to model bleachable substance methylene blue were examined. The effects of time,' pH scope, concentrations and rations of SPC/TAED on the bleaching activities to methylene blue were observed and the bleaching kinetic equations were obtained from kinetic experiments. The bleaching /cleaning of SPC/TAED to normal soiled cloth were tested, too. The results showed that SPC had a good bleaching activation at 40~60癈 with the presence of TAED.The addition of TAED in the hydrogen peroxide bleaching stage results a higher brightness of the pulp. The optimum reaction conditions of bleaching were as follow: (n)TAED:(n)H2O2=0.5, t=60min, 60 C, pH=12. Under this conditions, the brightness of the pulp can reach 10.64% highter.
