A new type of functional polyurethane compound sandwich board that could be put into use of packaging is introduced here. The polyurethane foam plastic is used as the core of the board and the side board is plywood , tegular paper, paper and so on. Thus a new way could be found to recycle the wastes.The performance of the primary material of the functional compound sandwich board (polyurethane foam plastic) has been analyzed by studying its physical properties such as the density, water absorbability, heat insulation property and so on and the main mechanics properties includes modulus of rupture (MOR) , modulus of elastic (MOE), compressing strength, dynamic mechanical properties, etc. The data shows that the polyurethane foam plastic is a kind of material of low density and water absorbability, good water resistance and heat insulation property. And it also could be used to absorb vibration. But the polyurethane foam plastic itself doesn't have good mechanics properties. It's MOE/MOR, compressing strength and so on are relatively low compared to other panels that are often used. So anther material with good mechanics properties should be used with the polyurethane foam plastic so as to make a kind of new type of compound sandwich board with both good physical properties and mechanics.The main composition of the polyurethane compound sandwich board is introduced first. To find the best manufacturing process, the experiments have been done about the structure of the board and the composition of the primary material. And the performances of the board has been analyzed by studying its main mechanics properties includes MOE/MOR, compressing strength, toughness, cementation strength of the side board and the core. The coefficient of the sound absorption is also measured. Several main conclusions could be found out from the studies above:1. The MOE/MOR of the compound sandwich board is dozens or hundreds of times more than that of the polyurethane foam plastic while the compressing strength could be promoted to the amount dozens of times of the polyurethane foam plastic.2. To the compound boards which use those materials with high mechanics properties as side board, the density of the polyurethane foam plastic influence the bending properties greatly. The numerical values reduce obviously while the density of the polyurethane foam plastic is getting lighter. But the interlayer almost is of no use. And the interlayer and the density of the polyurethane foam plastic don't change the compressing strength much. To those compound sandwich boards that use the materials such as tegular paper and paper as their sideboard, for these materials are so soft, the interlayer could promote the bending performances greatly. While to the compressing strength, the density of the polyurethane is much more useful.3. The polyurethane compound sandwich board with different mechanics properties we need could be made of different side board with different mechanics properties. If the sideboard should be used is soft, the density of the foam plastic could be promoted or an interlayer could be put between the two sideboards to get the board with good mechanics properties.
