The EGSB reactor is a new high-rate anaerobic reactor with some out-standing characteristics.lt is applied to treat organic wastewater in different conditions. In the experiment, we studied the start-up of the reactor with aerobic sludge in normal temperature and we researched on the treatment characteristics of wastewater in normal temperature.The results are shown below.1. The EGSB reactor could be started up with aerobic sludge after 120 days in normal temperature .The influent COD concentration should be more than 1000mg/L to start-up the reactor.The characteristics of the sludge was varied at the end of the experiment.2. Some operating rules in the EGSB reactor were varied with temperature.The effection of the temperature to the gas-production was more than that to the COD removal efficiency.3. The reactor started up in normal temperature had strong ability to resist the change of the temperature.4. The ability resisting the change of the organic loading rate of the reactor in the stabilization stage was stronger than that in the start up stage.5. The liquid up-flow velocity was better than the gas up-flow velocity to expand the sludge bed.Increasing the liquid up-flow velocity could improve the treatment efficiency of the reactor.6. The gas production was relevant with the organic loading rate positively.
