The catalytic effect of hydro-peroxide (H202) on the electrochemilurainescence (ECL) of luminol in neutral medium was studied in this paper. By the per-treatment for platinum electrode and getting rid of oxygen in the solution, the quality ECL signal of luminol was obtained in the boric-acid buffer (Na2B4O7-H3BO3, pH=6. 70) that was excited by the positive rectangular pulse with the amplitude of 0.75V (vs. Ag). The ECL intensity response linearly regressed to the concentration of H202 within the range from 5. 4 10-8mol/L to 2. 2 10-7mol/L with a detecting limit of 7. 1 10-9 mol/L. Accordingly, this method offered a foundation to the quantitative determination of some biologic matters by a certain extent. The ECL behavior of luminol - I system in neutral medium was also studied in this paper. The iodide could be sensitively determined in the select conditions. The ECL intensity responded linearly to the concentration of iodide within the range from 3. 8 10-7 mol/L to 2. 2 10-6mol/L, and the detecting limit is 4.0 10-8mol/L. The mechanism of enhancement effect of iodide on luminol' s ECL was discussed. Based on the study of the ECL system, the effect of rutin and propolis on the ECL was studied. The quenching effect of Rudin on the ECL was found. Thus, a method of ECL analysis for the determination of rutin was established. The linear range for rutin is from 3. 74 10-8mol/L to 3. 56 10-6mol/L. The total effective value of flavonoids in propolis capsule was determined to the standard of rudin. Within the range from 33. 3ug/ml to 104.6ug/ml, the ECL intensity attenuated linearly when increased the concentration of propolis. Therefore, the quantitative determination can be carried through by this method. The total effective value of flavonoids in propolis is 4. 16%.
