| In this paper nanosilica and montmorillonite were firstly modified, then they were mixed with PVC respectively in right proportion and made into PVC/nanosilica and PVC/montmorillonite composites. The properties of PVC/nanocomposite were studied.Silane coupling agent (KH-560) with active groups was used for the treatment on silica particles in this article. The surface of silica which was treated in the way of chemical bonds was changed from hydrophilication to amhydrophilication. By measuring the mechanical property of the polymers and observing the section morphology of flexural sample by SEM, we found that: after treated, the silica particles can better interface with PVC compared with the untreated silica particles. Silica can uniformly disper into PVC. At the same time, we also found that the mechanical properties of PVC/nanosilica were greatly increased, compared with pure PVC. The results indicated that using nano-silica can toughen and reinforce PVC effectively, so the study and application of it have a bright prospect. To the montmorillonite, we fistly treated it by two kinds of modifiers (D1630 and BS-12) in the experiment. By measuring contacted angle, the effects of the both methods of modification are compared. Then these two org-montmorillonites were added in PVC and PVC/montmorillonite composites were prepared with melt interaction. By measuring the tensile strength and Vicat Softening Temperature, we analysis the effects of the content of org-montmorillonite to properties of this composite and compare the effects of this two modifiers on the composite. The results of the experiment show that inthe limited range, adding org-montmorillonite modified by D1630 can raise the tensile strength but no elevation on the heat resistance to PVC, while adding org-montmorillonite modified by BS-12 can reduce the tensile strength but slightly elevated the heat resistance. In addition, we also explored that: montmorillonite which has been treated by BS-12 was treated secondly using MMA by the method of emulsion reaction and prepared PVC/ montmorillonite composite on the way of melt interaction again. By measuring XRD and mechanical properties and observing the section morphology of flexural sample through SEM, we found that: after secondly treated, the intension and toughness of PVC/ montmorillonite composite were greatly increased. The results indicated that using using montmorillonite can toughen and reinforce PVC effectively, so the study and application of it have a bright prospect. |
