Resistance seam welding is a kind of highly efficient welding method,which is widely used in manufacture of automobile and aircraft.With the rapid development of welding automation,more precise methods is required to monitor the seam welding process and quality so as to improve the reliability of welded joint.However,there inevitably exists such factors as the fluctuation of mains voltage and variation of load impedance in the practical production.In order to compensate for the influence of factors mentioned above on the welding quality and ensure congruous welding quality,the paper develops a highly precise artificial neural networks(ANN) controller which with the design idea of the digital-control welding,adopts the microcontroller Intel80C196KC and the digital-signal processor TMS320VC5402(DSP) as the core component to realizes the invariable control of the effective value of current in the primary circuit by way of ANN control.The controller gathers the primary current from the main circuit of mains frequency seam welding by means of highly precise Hall current sensor and gets the effective value of current through the discrete integration method. Using the difference between the actual effective value of current and precise one as well as the variation and velocity of difference as input variables,the controller outputs the needed adjusting time of SCR to maintain the primary current at the invarible level by means of the model of ANN control.The controller provides friendly intelligent humen-machine mutual interface for users. Through displaying Chinese multilevel menus with liquid crystal display(LCD) FM19264,users can set the procedure parameter and monitor the practical operation directly in LCD screen.In addition,this controller especially give timely warning of adnormal system failture by LCD display.In the paper, the research has made sure that the project is workable,at the same time,lays a foundation for the research of intelligent digital-control resistance welding.
