| The C21 steroidal constituents of the ethyl acetate extract of the roots and rhizomes of cynanchum paniculatum were studied in this research. Twenty-four compounds were isolated from the plants and eleven of them were characterized by employing different methods, such as column chromatography (CC), low and medium pressure liquid chromatography (LPLC, MPLC), reversed-phase RP-18 and RP-8 silica gel column chromatography, sephadex LH-20, and other separation means. IR, MS, one- and two-dimensional NMR technologies were used for the identification of the eleven compounds. The compounds 1 to 11 were identified as: (1)glaucogenin C 3-O-β-D-oleandropanyanoside; (2)neocynapanogenin D 3-O-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-oleandropanyanoside; (3) glaucogenin C 3-O-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D- oleandropanyanoside; (4) neocynapanogenin F 3-O-β-D-oleandropanyanoside; (5) neocynapanogenin C 3-O-β-D-oleandropanyanoside; (6) neocynapanogenin D 3-O-β-D- oleandropanyanoside; (7) neocynapanogenin E 3-O-β-D- oleandropanyanoside; (8) neocynapanogenin F; (9) 20- hydroxy -4, 6-pregn-3-one; (10) 3p, 14p-dihydroxy -14β-pregn-5-en-20-one (11) glaucogenin C; respetivelyoAmong these compounds, 1-8 were new compounds found in this plant, and the aglycone of compounds 2, 5, 7, 4 were new ones and named as neocynapanogenin D, C, E, F, respetively. |
