According to World Health Report published in 2000, there were seventeen millions of people died of cardiovascular diseases, in another word, there was one third people died of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases become the large burden of world health care. Cardiovascular medicine mainly includes cardiotonic, antiarrhythmic drugs, antihypertensive drugs and antianginal drugs etc. In order to achieve the optimum curative effect, assure patient to take medicine safely and reasonably, some simple detection methods with high sensitivity and specificity for the Cardiovascular medicines should be developed. In this thesis, some detection methods for four kinds of cardiovascular medicines such as amiodarone, benzbromarone, procainamide and procaine hydrochloride are developed. In section 2 and section 3, the electrochemical behavior of amiodarone and benzbromarone was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry chronocoulometry and bulk electrolysis with coulometry on a glassy carbon electrode. A simple, quick and sensitive method for detection of amiodarone by differential pulse voltammetry and a simple, quick and sensitive method for detection of benzbromarone by Osteryoung Square Wave Stripping Voltammetry were developed. The methods were applied to the assay of amiodarone and benzbromarone in rabbit serum and urine with good results. In section 4, the electrochemical behavior of some aromatic amine compounds such as procainamide and procaine on a Nafion modified electrode was investigated. A high selective and sensitive differential pulse voltammetry method for determination of procainamide and procaine with a low detection limit in the sub nM range was developed. This method was applied to the assay of procainamide and procaine in rabbit serum with good results. The ion-exchange selectivity coefficient, the apparent diffusion coefficient and the distribution coefficient were determined based on the data from experiments of chronocoulometry, bulk electrolysis with coulometry etc. Since capillary electrophoresis with electrochemistry detection has greatsuperiority for separation and assay of electrochemistry active materials, and based on the discussion of the electrode reaction mechanism of procainamide and procaine in section 4, a capillary electrophoresis with amperometric detection was employed for the separation and determination of procainamide and procaine in section 5. Under the optimum conditions, the two analytes were separated completely within 13 min. The method has been employed satisfactorily for the determination of procainamide and procaine in rabbit blood by standard addition with good reproducibility and high sensitivity.
