Research On Glasses As Matrix Of High Temperature Radar Absorbing Coating

Stealthy materials are widely studied and rapidly developed in recent years for the necessity of modern wars. One of the main research works of stealthy materials is focused on improving absorbing coating.In the present paper, glasses in the MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 quaternary system were prepared and characterized using as the matrix materials of absorbing coating. The process of absorbing coating of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 glasses doped with nano powder and the properties was researched. The main researches including: 1. The glass-forming regions have been explored and the glass forming ability, density, thermal expansion, and water durability were studied; 2. One glass with good properties was served as the matrix glass of absorbing coating through analyzing the properties of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5- Fe2O3 glasses; 3. The permittivity and reflectivity of absorbing coating of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 glasses doped with Si/C/N nano powder were researched.The main results and conclusions are as follows:MoO3-V2O5-P2O5 ternary system has strong glass forming ability, which extended down to 10mol% P2O5. The glass-forming region in the MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 quaternary system becomes relatively wider while the stabilities of the glasses against crystallization are still strong with 10mol% Fe2O3. With the increasing content of Fe2O3 the glass forming region becomes smaller. The glass forming ability in this quaternary system is most strong when the ratio of MoO3/V2O5 equals to 1.5.The density of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 glasses increase with the increasing Fe2O3 contents, while decrease with the increasing P2O5 content. The thermal expansion coefficients of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5-Fe2O3 glasses are lower than many commercial solder glasses, and increase with the increasing Fe2O3 contents. The water durability of MoO3-V2O5-P2O5 glasses is very poor, and improved remarkably when added with Fe2O3.Sample 55 with constitute of 33.6MoO3·22.4V2O5·24P2O5·20Fe2O3 can be served as the matrix glass of absorbing coating because of its high glass forming ability, good water durability and thermal expansion coefficients.The results showed that the permittivity of matrix glass is very low. When the absorbing coating doped with 5wt% absorber, the permittivity increased rapidly and decreased with the increasing frequency. The reflectivity of the designed absorbingcoating of 2.2mm thickness was mostly lower than -10dB at X band.
