Because the spinning industry is developing rapidly and the assortments and quantity of dye are increasing, wastewater with dyes becomes pollutants of water sources. According to statistics, the 2% of dyes were lost in the process of dyestuff producing , and about 10% of dyes were lost in the process of printing and dyeing. According to reports, benzene and azo in dyestuff wastewater usually link with urinary bladder cancer and harmful to people. Transparency of water may be weakened and ecological environment of water may be damaged by discharged dyes wastewater. Dyes wastewater contain large quantity of unbiodegradable organic substance and inorganic salt . The colority of it is high and the composition in it is complex. So dyestuff wastewater is difficult to be treated by common methods. Because reactive dyestuff have great variety of color and bright color which is not easy to fade, it is cheaper than others, so more and more reactive dyestuff are used. Reactive dyestuff is hydrophilic, so the treatment of wastewater with reactive dyestuff is one of the difficult points of the treatment of dye wastewater.This paper studied the removal processes of colority and CODCr of simulated wastewater with reactive light-yellow K-4G dyestuff by mult-electrodes of granular activated carbon (GAC). The effect of density of electric current, the quantity of activated carbon, the retention time, the electrical conductivity, flow rate was investigated. The removal results of colority and CODcr by mult-electrodes of GACand that by granular activated carbon absorption and that by electrolysis were compared. This paper also studied how diffusion and the property of charged granular activated carbon effect the removal result. Finally, this paper studied the macroscopic kinetics of the course of decoloration and removal of COD<> The result of experiment showed that the removal rate of colority and CODcr raised notably by mult-electrodes .The removal rate of colority and CODcr were improved by longer retention time, increasing the density of electric current , increasing the quantity of activated carbon in the wastewater. The removal rate of colority and CODcr were reduced slightly by increasing electric conductivity. The improving the diffusion of solution is benefit to the removal rate of colority and CODcr in some extend. Both kinds of GAC, with positive charge and negative charge, can reduce colority and CODcr of dyestuff wastewater.
