In this work, we have synthesized 5 new compounds in which there are 3 with the electrochromic structures in it., eg, pyrrolyl substituted 4,4'-bipyridinium derivatives. The all 5 structures have been confirmed by H1-NMR, IR, UV-VIS etc spectroscopy techniques.,Then the electrochemistry of 3 pyrrolyl substituted 4,4'-bipyridinium derivatives were studied by cyclic voltammograms (CV). The CV of these compounds show two redox peaks similar with the viologens, that mean the similar structure in it and pyrrolyl group is connected to the monomer successfully.By potentiostatic polymerization or continuous scanning of the electrode potential between 0V and about 1.4V(the latter value depending on the structure of the monomer), that pyrrolyl substituted 4,4'-bipyridinium derivatives were polymerized on the electrode surface was studied carefilly.
