Studies On The Synthesis Of Antidepressants Fluvoxamine And Clovoxamine

Depressive disorders are serious disabling illnesses. One in five persons is approximately affected by a mood disorder at some point. The attendant economic costs to society and personal burden to patients and families are enormous.The mechanisms and development of antidepressants were briefly reviewed in this thesis, in which Fluvoxamine and Clovoxamine, as 5-HT re-uptake inhibitors were introduced.The synthetic methods of Fluvoxamine and Clovoxamine were discussed and an optimized, 4-step synthetic route was chosen in the thesis. In order to low-down the cost, simplify the operating procedure, all the reaction conditions were investigated intensively. The total yield reached up to 44.3% and 43.6% respectively.The structures of target molecule were determined by IR ,MSand 1H-NMR.
