On the base of overview on the various methods of thermal spraying and rapid solidification at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the progress of research on electro-thermal explosive impacts. While, via one-dimension piston model and freely exploding wire model, the dynamic characteristics of ultro-high velocity spraying by electro-thermal explosive method are analysed, the differences of the two models and the disciplines of the shock wave parameter are also compared and studied.Using FEA software ANSYS, this paper analyses the temperature field of coating/base system during the electro-thermal explosive impacts of ultro-high velocity spraying, in which the two-dimension mathematical model is simplized and established properly, the calculation results of one-dimension and two-dimension temperature fields are compared and the further improved methods of the mathematical model are presented. Also, the dynamic characteristics of coating/base system during the ultro-high spraying by electro-thermal explosive method are analyzed, in which the one-dimension mathematical model is simplized and established properly, the Wallop is presumed a sinusoidal function with the time, and so the discipline of the dynamic characteristics is obtained.All results have important meanings to understanding the dynamic process of electro-thermal explosive and rapid solidification process of coating.
