Study On Photonic Crystal And Band Gap

Photonic Crystal is a periodic modulation of dielectric material emerges in recent years and it has peculiar ability of inhibiting spontaneous radiation of atoms and controlling light propagation. This may bring about important potential in several scientific and technical areas. In this paper, physical origin and development of photonic crystal is investigated on the base of band theory of solid, electromagnetic field theory and light quantum theory respectively. A novel idea is bring forward that it exists quantum effect in photonic band gap structure. Some achievement is made by applying light quantum theory in calculation about photonic band gap.
