Based on the realistic conditions of rockburst in Yan Shi Tai coal mine of Nan Tong mining bureau ,the mechanism of rock crack extension was analyzed by use of rock fracture mechanics and rock damage mechanics. The deformation property of the surrounding rock in the one-direction and three-condition was studied according to strength theory and energy theory. The calculation formula of rockburst energy was preliminarily presented in terms of energy release of the cleave structure in rock.Many interrelated factors,which influenced on rockburst occurrence ,were analyzed detailedly according to the production technology and natural of conditions. The disadvantages of traditional methods of forecasting rockburst were pointed out and the new methods of rockburst prediction were put out on the base of BP artifical neural network and genetic algorithm. The object-oriented software,which achieved better results in rockburst prediction, was designed. It was an important reference for studying the prediction of ruckburst.
