Aminosilicone oil microemulsion has been widely used as softener for many years. Starting from the two methods of making aminosilicone oil microemulison (bulk polymerization and emulsion polymerization), we studied the microemulsifying rules of aminosilicone oil. Then some stable and approximatively transparent polydimethtyl silicone and aminosilicone oil micoemulisons were made by emulsion polymerization of D4 and DVAPAEDMS ring-opening reaction with high surfactant concentration, and the corresponding physical model of polymerization was also developed. In the study of the microemulsifying rules of aminosilicone oil, the methods of particle-size analysis for microemulsion were discussed, and a convenient method for characterizing the particle-size of microemulison indirectly by visible light spectrophotometer with constant test condition was put forward. Based on the theory of hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, stable and transparent aminosilicone oil microemulsions were made by a certain microemulsifying technique, the colloid particles of which were global, evenly distributed with average particle size below 50nm. Then the part pseudo-ternary phase diagrams of oil-in-water area by weight of the mixtures of aminosilicone oil (O), water (W), complex surfactants (S) and 1-pentanol (C) were used to study the interrelationship of aminosilicoe oil, water, complex surfactant and 1-pentanol. These pseudo-ternary phase diagrams were very important for the future study. The effects of carbon chains length of alcohol, pH value and the stir intensity on the formation of aminosilicone oil microemulsion were also discussed. An approximatively transparent polydimethtyl silicone microemulsion was made by emulsion polymerization of D4 ring-opening reaction. The reaction was studied by kinetics experiments and particle-size analysis, and the results showed that there wasn't constant rate period during the polymerization reaction, which was different from normal emulsion polymerization. Then the physical model of the polymerizationwas developed, which divided the whole process into four steps: ( I ) Dispersion period; (II) Colloids formation and reaction period, the polymerization rate of which was increasing owing to the formation of new colloids continually; (III) Colloids reaction period. In this period, monomer particles had disappeared completely, and the polymerization reaction had to consume the monomer in the colloid, so the polymerization rate decreased. (IV) Agglomeration period. Based on the study of emulsion polymerization of ring-opening reaction, the emulsion co-polymerization of D4 and APAEDMS had been explored. The transmissivity and infra-red spectrometry analysis showed that the aminosilicone oil microemulsion could be made by the emulsion co-polymerization of D4 and APAEDMS.
