Using a length of tube as the blank, hydroforming technology of tubular parts promise an extensive prospect to produce a variety of complex hollow components. However, due to its complexity, it is difficult to find the optimum technological parameters, and the defects such as wrinkling and break are likely to come forth. So it is significant to conduct numerical simulations for the forming process to predict the forming results and to acquire the optimum loading path. This thesis discussed the principal theory of rigid-plastic finite element, and some techniques about the simulation was also studied, then a three dimensional simulation system FORM3D was developed, which has satisfactory pretreatment and post treatment function, such as mesh generation, die surface description and treatment for the dynamic boundary condition. Furthermore, this system can be applied to handle the displacement loading and distributing force loading, and the output information can interface to AutoCAD and MATLAB system.FORM3D was employed to simulate the hydroforming processes of square tube and T-shape tube, as a result, some valuable information about the forming processes was obtained, which reveals the laws of deformation and provides advice for the optimization of forming process and die design.
